Try any or all of the following and sense how alive and ready for action you feel.

• Go for an energetic walk or run beforehand to get the energy flowing.

• Move on the spot or jump up and down.

• Shake your shoulders and stretch in all directions.

• Screw your toes up tightly inside your shoes and stretch them out again.

• Make tight fists with your hands under the table and then stretch the fingers out.

• Move your facial muscles vigorously.

• Breathe out strongly and take in fresh air.

• With your arms by your sides shake your hands and wrists vigorously for a few seconds as if you are trying to shake drops of water from them; then for a few more seconds shake them just as vigorously but with half the movement; and then just as vigorously but with half the movement again; and then half again and half again until the movement is tiny but the energy huge. Then stand still and feel the confident energy in your fingertips and throughout your body.
